Cuse Angered that Flynn is in LeBron’s Fave Five
LeBron James is drawing the ire of basketball fans in Upstate New York these days, and for once, it’s not about a LeBron/Melo debate. The Cuse community has had a rough three weeks since getting Blake Griffin-ed in the tournament; going from Dicky V’s 2009 No. 3 ranking, to potentially losing their three top scorers to the NBA draft.
With the news that Jonny Flynn is expected to sign with an agent, it’s meltdown mode on the hill. Mitch Lawrence wrote two weeks ago in the Daily News that LeBron had placed calls to Flynn on behalf of his agent Leon Rose. Syracuse fans are now placing blame squarely on the the King’s back – presumably next to his “Chosen One” tattoo – for Flynn’s early departure.
Cavs fans will recall that LeBron landed Rose after firing his original agent Aaron Goodwin in 2005. Rose’s agency is gaining all sorts of street cred in the league. Aside from LeBron, he recently inked O.J. Mayo and had picked up Allen Iverson and Rip Hamilton in the past four years.
Here’s some of what the Cuse fans are saying:
“I hope he accidentally steps in front of a bus.”
“F*ck lebron. I hope he plays his whole career without winning a championship.”
“I already was not the biggest LeBron fan in the world, but now I flat out hate the man. UGH!. WTF”
That’s just a taste of the misguided blame that’s being guzzled down like Dome Foam during a Big East home game. The question is, if it’s true that LeBron was making those kinds of calls and doing so in an effort to sway a college kid to an agent, isn’t that a bad precedent? Although if he’s doing this, it’s likely he’s not the only one. Does the NCAA or the NBA intervene if this becomes rampant? Will Eric Devendorf find representation that doesn’t actually specialize in criminal law?
So we know how the Syracuse fans feel, but what do Cavs fans think? Should LeBron be recruiting underclassmen for the purposes to finding his agent business?
As long as they aren’t kissing through the phone.
I think it’s pitiful that LeBron is doing this. Whatever, the King aint winning a title this year and we’ll see how you losers like him when he’s in NYC.
So does Cusefan23 like Lebron? because I would assume then that he/she? wouldn’t want Lebron in NY…..besides syracuse (uncapitalized)sucks, you can even ask webmaster
No i don’t agree with what Thebron is doing, but as the article mentioned, he probably isn’t the only one doing it. So in that case, I’m all about Lebron doing it, and helping develop additional interest in players desire to join the Caveliers, and syracuse (uncapd) fans should just forget about it and worry about football…….baseball……..wrestling…….table tennis….are they good at anything?
Kobe rocks. Go Lakers!
………gay
i’m confused, is this a “hate on the cavs” post or a “hate on ‘cuse” post? you know, since you never have anything good to say about any of your teams.could you just go ahead and move to pittsburgh already? i think you would be more supportive of cleveland’s teams if you were a “fan” of their rivals.
im confused…is it dutch or deusche?
Dutch, why is it considering “hating” on the Cavs when I critique them or point out a truth nobody else has pointed out? Is that somehow beyond the pale? Would you rather have your exact 24/7 pro-anything Cleveland agenda be reaffirmed somewhere on the web so you can feel good about yourself and your irrelevant opinions?
If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re an easy person to please.
no, i’m looking for a balanced, reasonable evaluation. between your posts here and on thebiglead, i’ve never seen you praise a cleveland or syracuse team. everything is about lebron’s lack of defense (prior to yesterday when you “went on record” as saying he plays good D, 2 full seasons late), or the cavs’ struggles against talented big men, etc. while those may be valid critiques, as a “fan” i would expect you to balance the criticism by pointing out varejao’s huge offensive leap this year or the possibility that joe smith can be the piece that puts the cavs over the top. but you don’t- every single thing you say is a response to a positive comment where you say “yeah but…” and point out a flaw. even the name of your site embraces the negative. you’re the cleveland version of dan shaugnessy.
ebf- now i’m confused again. are you trying to say i’m a douche or i’m german?
Dutch, if you’ve been reading me on TBL, than you would know that I’ve said all year that I’ve been unimpressed with the Lakers (as unimpressed as one can be with a 65-win team). I’ve gone on record as saying I think the Cavs take the Lakers if they meet in the finals. But you honestly think LeBron was an elite defender two years ago? Even Gloria thinks that’s absurd.
i’m saying it took you 2 full seasons (last year and this) to acknowledge that lebron is a good defender. as a cleveland “fan” you should have given him credit long ago. and so what if you hate on the lakers too? that just proves my point. any nba team with 65+ wins is outstanding, yet you are “unimpressed.” you were also unimpressed by ‘cuse’s run through the big east tourney. not every team can be the ’96 bulls or the ’90 runnin rebs. it just seems, and this is the last thing i’ll say, that you have impossibly high standards, especially for someone who follows cleveland sports. if the cavs win it all this year, will you say something good or will you immediately assert that lebron needs multiple championships to truly be considered elite?
Jonny Flynn dunks on Rosario?????????????? This hurr thugnasty interior defender has NEVER, EVER gotten dunked on once in my life!!!!!
Dutch, all your queries can be answered simply by directing you over to our “about” section. You’re taking us, way, way too seriously. But don’t worry, we’re not taking your very seriously at all. LeBron was a horrendous defender two years ago, even Fred McLeod agrees. I still don’t think he’s all worldy, he’s just finally realizing that he can get his blocks on Sportscenter. He still gets torched often, and sometimes, doesn’t even guard the other team’s top players for more than 10 possessions a game.
“jim brown only averaged 2 receptions/game. i’m unimpressed.”- cc. hate on, hater
“LeBron was the best free shooter in the league in 2006, and nobody is a birth control expert like the King.”-dutch
If Dutch is hating on being a hater, doesn’t that make him a hater? or a hypocrite? or a douche? or something like that?
boy now im really confused……let’s throw everyone off and talk about the Monsters
Statement: “LeBron is a great player.” Normal response: “Yes, and if he improves midrange jumper, he’ll be unstoppable.” CC’s response: “No, his FT% was below average 3 years ago.” Statement: “Michael Jordan was a great player.” Normal response: “Yes, one of the best of all time.” CC’s response: “No, his 3PT% sucked.” Statement: “Peyton Manning is a great QB.” Normal response: “Yes, a Hall of Famer for sure.” CC’s response: “He only won one Super Bowl.” Statement: “This party’s awesome!” Normal response: “Yeah! Let’s have fun!” CC’s resposne: “The music selection is out of date and they only have light beer.” Do you see where I’m going with this? Most people, especially “fans,” can acknowledge greatness and also acknowledge deficiencies in one’s game. You, on the other hand, only see the negative. But I guess I can understand that you are just a self-loathing Cleveland fan. If a Cleveland team actually manages to win a championship, it would destroy your identity, so you have to keep your expectations low by pointing out only flaws. Maybe you aren’t a hater after all, just someone who has been beaten down by failure and can’t trust anyone enough to see the good in things. And Jerome, you are right, I’m a hater too. Can’t you tell this is my application to join the Cursed Cleveland team?
btw, by “failure” i mean team failure, not failure in your personal or professional life. i don’t want to sound like even more of an asshole than i actually am
all these stupid ‘Cuse fans and NYC fans love fishsticks
