Ric Bucher was told by his LA people they were trying to land Joe Smith. Bucher thinks LA had a chance, when they didn’t. BW was right along, because he was gettin real information that was transpiring. Bucher was getting bullshit!

this is so ridiculous. first of all, windhorst was right, so who cares?? why use this example to illustrate a point about the growing problem of media outlets being wrong because they want to get out in front of others? if it’s such a problem, how about using one of the “many” actual examples out there? maybe — just maybe — windhorst’s access is better than bucher’s when the cavs are involved. maybe fegan went to the lakers just to see what market value was — which windhorst could see through and bucher could not because bucher’s crying that he — HE! — is the bastion of NBA journalism. this is just so asinine that bucher would throw someone who’s genuinely good, really cares, and is rarely ever misleading under the bus just to pontificate. man, i really do hate the guy.

“even though James isn’t doing one-on-ones these days with anyone that hasn’t overcome the HIV virus.”That one had me giggling.Hasn’t Simmons praised Windhorst in the past as being one of the best NBA beat writers? Not that I expect him to get all indignant with Bucher for taking a shot, but I think Simmons is a BW fan to some extent.
